Masters – Men and Women

There is a vibrant and social masters hockey competition in Cairns for players 34+.
Women’s and Men’s games are played weeknights from March through to September.
A Grade – Men and Women

Cairns Premier Competition supported by is played on Friday and Saturday nights at the Cairns Hockey Facility. Join us at the Reef and Rainforest Turfs, where you will see high level hockey competition.
B Grade – Men and Women

This provides a great social atmosphere, where the competitive urges remain but are not as prioritised as in A and B Grade. This provides an opportunity for those who are looking for a great way to engage in fun and team type activities. These games are scheduled each Saturday afternoon starting around lunch time.
Junior Local Competition (J1, J2 and J3)
Cairns Hockey continues to develop inclusive programs and competition, designed to assist in the transition of young people from the Primary Modified Competition, to the more traditional 11 a side single sex competition, while continuing to be safe and fun for every age group.
Cairns Junior Compeititon Hockey is designed to align Club and promote an environment that continues to teach and develop the individual, but not to the detriment of the team, or the hockey community. Each division is stage to cater for player skills rather than traditional age requirements.
J1 Boys and Girls

J1 Division is the highest division in the Junior Competition. Played on Friday nights – with 4 Saturday night games throughout the season.
J2 Boys and Girls

Saturday mornings at 9:20am or 10:40am
Played on Saturday mornings, J2 is the second stage introductory division to competitive hockey.
J3 Boys and Girls
Competition Days
Saturday mornings at 8:00am
Played on Saturday mornings at 8:00am, J3 is designed as a purely introductory level for players transitioning into competitive hockey from Hookin2Hockey Programs.
Hookin2Hockey Heroes
Cairns Hockey continues developing innovative and exciting inclusive hockey programs for primary aged young boys and girls. Cairns Hockey has developed a fit for purpose program for the younger players in this Division – Hockey Heroes, which we hope will provide a strong entry level introduction to hockey.

- Trained volunteers involved
- Fun atmosphere
These programs are safe and fun for young boys and girls, programs look to align Clubs with Primary School Teams as a club development initiative and create an environment that teaches young people new skills, assists in communication and sharing, while delivering modified fun programs in a safe place.

U11 Mixed Boys and Girls

Friday Afternoons
4:45 – 5:30pm
March – August
- Young boys and girls, generally in year 5 and 6. Aimed and new and newish players.
- Non compeitive program, with mixed gender teams.
- Players allocated to clubs for team dynamics.
- Played on half-field with modified learning programs and equipment.
- 10 min training skill session.
- Followed by 30 minute game on either turf or grass
U9 Boys and Girls

Friday Afternoons
4:45 – 5:30pm
March – August
- Young boys and girls, generally in Year 3 and 4.
- Non competitive Program, with mixed gender teams.
- Players allocated to clubs for team dynamics.
- Played on quarter-field with modified learning programs and equipment.
- 10 minute training skill session.
- Followed by 30 minute game on either turf or grass.
U7 Boys and Girls
Hockey Heroes
Friday Afternoons
4:45 – 5:30pm
March – August
- Young boys and girls, generally in Prep, Year 1 and 2.
- Non competitive Program, with mixed gender teams.
- Players allocated to clubs for team dynamics.
- Played on eigth-field with modified learning programs and equipment.
- 10 minute training skill.
- Followed by 30 minute game on either turf or grass
