The Six-a-Side is an initiative of Cairns Hockey, introduced and run for the first time in 2015. It’s a short and sharp mixed competition, which runs all year round. Term 1, 2 and 3 are Mondays, and Term 4 is Monday and Wednesdays, including a Junior Competition. It is a modified version of the full field, winter competition.

The Social Sixes Hockey (Six-a-Side) competition mixed gender teams consist of a maximum of nine (9) players, with six (6) on the field of play at any one time. A minimum of five (5) players is required before taking the field. Each team must have more women than men. There is a maximum of three (3) men per team on the field at any one time.
Players can only be registered in one (1) team but may fill in for other teams if needed. Players can sub on and sub off at will, at any time during the game.
Games are played over 2 x 20 minute periods with a three (3) minute break at half time.
