Cairns Hockey member, Darran Shannon, recently suffered and injury playing C Grade several weeks ago in a freak accident. Darran broke his neck at the C3/C4 level and suffered a severe spinal cord injury leaving him with little, to no movement, or sensation below his upper chest. As he moves forward with his recovery, and unclear prognosis, we ask the community to come together to support the long road ahead for Darran, his wife Jen and his four girls Cady, Jesse, Scarlett and Kyla.
Those fortunate enough to know the Shannon family, understand the unit that defines their characters. Jen’s long standing volunteer role at Cairns Hockey and Saint Hockey Club have embedded herself, Darran and the girls into our community. There is never a week that goes by without Jen being there to help someone out around the grounds with a friendly smile.
Saints Hockey Club have established a GoFundMe campaign, aiming to alleviate some of the financial hardships faced by the Shannon family. Any contributions will directly assist with medical bills, ongoing treatments, necessary modifications to their home and all other associated costs. We ask you to consider making a donation, no matter the size to this worthy cause.
